Infallibility of the Sovereign Pontiff

 

We publish here a Small Catechism on the Infallibility of the Sovereign Pontiff to Help the Understanding of Dogma, composed in Rome and published in Québec in 1876 with the imprimatur of the local bishop and the approval of the Very Reverend Master of Sacred Apostolic Palace. This catechism was dedicated by its author to the Most Holy Father, Pope Pius IX.

In these times when many dogmas are abused by the conciliar authorities, it seems that many no longer have a clear notion of the dogma of papal infallibility. May this little catechism help each of us.

In the present state of affairs, many traditionalists see it as a viable solution to the mysterious situation in which we find ourselves regarding the apostasy of modernist Rome to simply diminish the dogma of the infallibility of the Sovereign Pontiff. After all, the modernist men on the throne of Peter have never invoked infallibility. Therefore, they say, we should have no problem considering them as true Vicars of Christ, all while disregarding everything they say and disobeying everything they ask from the faithful and the clergy. But is this Catholic?
